January 2004 - not much effort!

2 February 2004 (1 hours)

Ordered Maxi ball joints. I bought Cortina ones about a year ago. It was only when I tried to bolt these to my wishbones that I realised that my wishbones were built for Maxi ones!. Continued cutting and filing fishmouths for the trailing arms. Painted top coat on hubs and uprights)

7 February 2004 (1 hours)

Finished cutting and filing fishmouths. Put another coat of paint on the hubs and uprights. Bolted my new Maxi ball joint son to the bottom wishbones..

17 February 2004 (2 hours)

Welded the trailing arms and panhard rods up and painted with red lead

22 February 2004 (1.25 hours)

The crush tubes in the poly bushes had a lot larger internal diameter than the 8mm Triumph bushes my suspension brackets were made for. Spent ages drilling the brackets to fit.

29  February 2004 (1.5 hours)

Milestone day. (I had told my wife that if the car wasn't rolling by the end of this month I was giving up). Luckily after welding on the back axle brackets that were kindly supplied by Ewan (a local Locost builder),  I managed to get all the wheels on and get the car rolling. Didn't manage to get any photos, the light was fading fast.

20 March 2004 (2 hours)

At first site, it looked like the project was going backwards, not forwards. having proved all the brackets were roughly in the correct place I had to disassemble the front suspension to fully weld the suspension mounts. Also cut out the transmission tunnel tube to clear the gear box.

28 March 2004 (2 hours)

Reassembled the front suspension. Cut a couple of tubes to act as temporary front shock absorbers (waste of time buying proper shock absorbers at this time). Car rolling again - managed to sweep the garage out for the first time in over a year.
